The payment platform of Atresmedia premieres this Sunday ‘Cardo‘, its new original series created by Ana Rujas and Claudia Costafreda.

The series recounts over six episodes the excesses of an entire generation that feels like a hinge in this world: daughters of the XXI century, babies of the television of seven channels, of the technological boom and social networks.

Based on an original idea by Ana Rujas, ‘Cardo‘ stars herself and is directed by Claudia Costafreda, both co-writers and writers of the series. The cast of the fiction is completed by Clara Sans, Ana Telenti, Juani Ruiz, Alberto San Juan, Diego Ibáñez and Yolanda Ramos.

A generational portrait

‘Cardo’ is a production of Atresmedia Television in collaboration with Buendía Estudios and Suma Content. Montse García, Sonia Martínez, Amparo Miralles, Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi are the executive producers of the project.

The series tells the story of Maria, a girl from Madrid on the verge of 30 years without much to offer the world, she has problems with drugs, she has no money, maintains a toxic relationship with sex and hates her body while using it to achieve ephemeral challenges. Faced with such a feeling of emptiness, she tries to take the direction of her life and sets out to help Puri, a woman from her neighborhood, whose florist is about to close. After a humiliating encounter with her last partner, an accident will change her life and force her to face some painful truths.

The fiction reflects on the expectations that are imposed on us according to who we are physically, according to what we are socially and the emptiness of a whole generation of young people who today are around 30 years old. How we fill that void through consumerism and ephemeral pleasures without delving into what really happens to us or who we really are.
