‘The cook of Castamar’, an adaptation of the homonymous novel by Fernando J. Múñez, is a production by Buendía Estudios to be released on the Atresmedia payment platform and will soon arrive in prime time on Antena 3.

‘The cook of Castamar’, ATRESMEDIA TV’s new original series, will premiere exclusively on ATRESplayer PREMIUM this Sunday, February 21, before its arrival at prime time on Antena 3. The fiction is an adaptation of Fernando J. Muñez’s novel of the same name. (ed. Planeta), set in 18th century Madrid.

Michelle Jenner, Roberto Enríquez and Hugo Silva head the cast of protagonists. They are joined by great names such as Maxi Iglesias, Silvia Abascal, Nancho Novo, María Hervás, Paula Usero, Fiorella Faltoyano, Jean Cruz, Jaime Zataraín, Marina Gatell, Mónica López and Agnés Llobet, among others.

‘The cook of Castamar’, produced by Buendía Estudios, tells the story of Clara Belmonte (Michelle Jenner) and Diego, the Duke of Castamar (Roberto Enríquez), both with a painful past, but who will change their lives when they meet. They will have to fight one of the great obstacles of the time if they want to be together: the difference of classes, in addition to facing the thirst for revenge of Enrique de Arcona (Hugo Silva).

Montse García (Atresmedia TV), Sonia Martínez (Buendía Estudios) and José María Caro (Buendía Estudios) are the executive producers of this series with the label SERIESATRESMEDIA. Lucía Alonso-Allende is the executive co-producer. ‘The cook of Castamar’ will be directed by Iñaki Peñafiel and Norberto López Amado. Ana Rocha is the production director.

The writing team is formed by Ramón Tarrés Reguant, Camino López Lozano, Arantxa Cuesta and Victor Pedreira, with Tatiana Rodríguez Vázquez as script coordinator. The direction of photography will be carried out by Aitor Mantxola, Oscar Durán and Juana Jiménez. The design of the sets has been made by Mercedes Canales and the director of Art is Javier Mampaso.

Madrid, 1720. Clara Belmonte arrives in Castamar fleeing a painful past to work in the palace kitchen. Her father’s death accused of treason has upset her life plans and made her sick with agoraphobia. The young woman takes refuge in the kitchen to survive and turns her work into her great passion. In her dishes, she pours hopes, her illusions and the conviction that we will all be the same when we all eat the same.

In the Palace, she cooks for Diego, Duke of Castamar. Widow and with a bleak past, to which Clara’s arrival changes his life. Gradually they realize they’re in love. The social class difference is the main obstacle for them to be together. But not the only one. His mother, Mrs. Mercedes, bent on the duchy having offspring, tries to get her son to marry the noble Amelia Castro. To do this, she gets the help of Enrique de Arcona, the Marquis of Soto. A man who hides his true intentions and who is willing to do anything to get his revenge.
