Do you enjoy going out partying in a tracksuit? Are your dream holidays spent at your parents’ countryside house? Do you snore louder than Chewbacca? This show is tailor-made for all those who never get any action—and know exactly why.
Comedian Galder Varas sets out to find the hardest-to-match singles and help them finally find love. Drawing on all the experience from his irreverent improv show—packed with constant audience interaction—he brings it into a dating program designed to break the mold. Joined by two celebrity guests in each episode, ready to reveal their best flirting tricks, he faces the tough mission of sparking love between the most unlikely couples.
Each episode features one hundred participants, aged 18 to 50, from different backgrounds and across all sexual orientations, selected through casting. They sit in a theater audience facing the comedian, each with a powerful light at their seat used to answer his hilarious questions throughout the show: light on means YES, light off means NO.
From all the singles, Galder must find the most disastrous one—the person who needs the most help finding a partner—through a questionnaire designed to expose all their embarrassing secrets. The chosen one joins him on stage, becoming the star of the day… or as the show calls them: The Gem. The remaining 99 singles then get the chance to become their potential matches.
Those interested in the chosen single, based on their orientation and preferences, turn their lights back on. Then, as more and more embarrassing truths about The Gem come to light, potential suitors begin switching their lights off—until only a few brave souls remain willing to give them a chance.
But in this dating show, the final decision doesn’t belong to the person looking for love. Instead, the two celebrity guests accompanying Galder in each episode make the ultimate choice. The newly formed couple meets on stage and, after completing a small challenge together, receives the blessing to (finally!) enjoy love.
With Galder Varas’ signature sense of humor, This Is Not a Dating Show breaks down prejudices around dating, calls things by their name, and turns once-unthinkable secrets into potential conversation starters for a first date. The search for love becomes a collective catharsis—breaking free from the pressure of appearances and, along the way, having a good laugh.
