The company strengthens its Content department with a figure focused on the search for new projects and the establishment of alliances with talent.
Buendía Estudios welcomes Tomás Silberman to their Fiction team as the Director of Content Development. In this role, he will be responsible for scouting and developing fiction projects, establishing partnerships with established and emerging talent in the audiovisual industry, and providing support to Buendía Estudios’ executive producers in creating new content. He will report directly to Laura Abril, the Executive Director of Fiction and Global Business Development.
Silberman brings extensive experience as an executive in creative development and production since 2008, when he began working at Comedy Central. His responsibilities included scouting new stand-up comedy talent, coordinating monologue scripts, and serving as a writer on various entertainment programs. In 2019, he became the Head of Content Development for Spain at VIS (ViacomCBS International Studios, currently known as PTIS, Paramount Television International Studios). In this role, he supervised the writing and creative aspects of series production such as “Días mejores,” “La novia gitana,” “La red púrpura,” the second season of “Historias para no dormir,” “Las invisibles,” and “Mentiras pasajeras.” Since 2023, he has also been an associate professor at Carlos III University of Madrid.
Throughout 2023, Buendía Estudios has produced ‘La pasión turca’, ‘Beguinas’, ‘Marbella’, ‘Camilo Superstar’, ‘La caja de arena,’, ‘Ángela’ and ‘Drag Race España: All Stars’ and very soon, the new installment of ‘Física o Química’. This year, they have also premiered their productions ‘Pobre diablo’, ‘Las noches de Tefía’, ‘La Unidad Kabul’, ‘Poquita fe’ and ‘Déjate ver’. The studio recently announced the development of ‘Sira’, the continuation of the phenomenon ‘El tiempo entre costuras,’ based on the work of María Dueñas.
