Buendía Estudios closes an agreement with Universal International Studios to create series in Spanish

A pact for the development of original programs in Spanish targeted to the global market.

Buendía Estudios and Universal International Studios – a division of Universal Studio Group- have signed an agreement to co-develop and produce original series, and to adapt NBCUniversal formats for all the Spanish-speaking market.

In the words of Ignacio Corrales, CEO at Buendía Estudios, “For Buendía Estudios this agreement with UIS is a big step in the strategy of creating and producing premium content in Spanish aimed at global audiences. A partnership that joins two complementary teams that share the passion and the commitment to tell good stories”.

‘Safe Harbour’, International Emmy winner, will have a Spanish version thanks to this association.

SYNOPSIS

A group of friends embark on a recreational journey during which they stumble upon a broken-down boat full of migrants looking for asylum, some of them seriously ill. After voting, they decide to help them and tow them to a safe coast. But a sudden event will change their plans and mark their lives – all of them – forever.

‘Safe Harbour’ is a bold psychological thriller that explores universal subjects such as friendship, trust, humanity and others that are sadly relevant nowadays such as the struggle and the search for justice that refugees live all around the world. The development and production of the Spanish version will be the first adaptation that will be launched thanks to this agreement.
